5 Questions to Ask Before You Share

A short checklist against spreading disinformation – it takes about a minute.

  1. Who wrote it? Can the author be traced?
  2. When was it published? Old stories often circulate as if they were new.
  3. Is anyone else reporting it? Big news rarely has just one source.
  4. How do I feel? Anger and fear are the most common fuel of disinformation.
  5. Who benefits if I share it? Am I helping to inform people, or just spreading an emotion?
